Heyo Thomas! I agree that Man vs. Debt's About page is awesome as well. Not familiar with Evolvify yet, I'll have to check it out along with yours at College Info Geek :) Thanks for your thoughts. Cheers!

Hi Matt! No problem - thanks for having an awesome About page for me to talk about and learn from! I'm almost nervous to create my own About page after actually diving in and seeing how important it is for bloggers' websites! Thanks for the tips.

I know exactly where you're coming from. After turning down offers for Big Four accounting firms (my major in college), I'm now searching for not only jobs, but what exactly I want to do with the rest of my life :).

Congrats on starting your job! I really admire you moving away from home!

All the sites listed here are great, and I actually thought of Life Without Pants when I saw the title of this post. Matt's done such an awesome job with that site.

For me, an About page at least needs two elements to be great: 1 - some insight into who the blogger is as a person (not just what they do for work) and 2 - a USP or compelling reason as to why their blog is different and worth the time.

I'd submit that both Adam Baker of Man vs. Debt and Andrew Badenoch of Evolvify do a pretty great job with their about pages. I also recently overhauled my own about page over at College Info Geek, taking inspiration from both of those guys as well as some of the people you've listed. I'm still working on it, but it's much better than it was before!

Thanks for including me with such esteemed company (many of whom I consider great friends. Laura, Paige, Ash, and I go way back). An ABOUT page needs to explain who you are and what you do, but most importantly, needs to establish a connection with your readers and visitors. It's crazy how overlooked the ABOUT page is on so many sites, especially considering it's (for most of us) the most visited page, other than the home page, on our site. Cheers!

Great blog! I usually read books and Time magazine on my 50 minute round trip commute. Last night, I walked with my co-worker to Foggy Bottom (two stops closer to my house) and got an extra mile in my walk yesterday. I took a different route during lunch yesterday during my 2.2 mile walk, and I found some great new places I need to try! I would suggest to get off a couple of stops before your regular one and walk for 10-15 minutes, so you can get some exercise in before and after the work day. You may find some great places to eat, shop or a new book store.

[...] A few months back, I volunteered on a team to help a non-profit organization come up with a social media strategy to get more buzz going around an annual event that they were hosting. The non-profit was a very small business and was surely understaffed for the goals they had lined up. However, social media is a powerful tool – especially when it comes to small companies and personal branding. [...]
